The moon sees what the world rushes past, the silences, the sparks, the stories in between.

Poetic Storytelling

At Moonwake Studio Inc., storytelling is both an art and an act of devotion. Inspired by the emotional depth and visual lyricism often found in Korean dramas, we create films, series, and animations that linger in the quiet space between emotion and memory, where beauty is found in restraint, and meaning unfolds in the stillness of a frame.

Guided by a deep respect for nuance, our team approaches each project as a cinematic experience meant to be felt, not just seen. From concept to final edit, we explore how light, sound, and silence can move an audience without words.

Our mission is simple: to craft timeless, emotionally resonant stories that stay long after the credits fade, reflections of humanity, connection, and the magic of cinema itself.

A Note from the Founder

For years, I’ve carried stories in my chest like breath I hadn’t exhaled. This studio is my release, a home for what lingers, a beginning.

My name is Ruth Kabengele, I’m a Canadian-Congolese writer, actor, producer, and creative director.

I created Moonwake Studio Inc. to hold space for stories that speak softly, honestly, and with heart.

But also, to open doors.

Moonwake is a Canada ↔ Korea–based studio creating story-driven features, series, short films, and animation.

We exist not only to tell meaningful stories, but to bridge worlds, to help foreign actors find space in the Korean film industry and strengthen the creative thread between two countries I call home.

Our films aren’t defined by genre, but by the frames that haunt, heal, and stay.

In an industry that moves fast, I wanted something that lingers, a studio where nuance matters, and emotion shapes the frame.

It’s about what you feel once the screen fades to black.
